Obama told Joe the Plumber that; “When you spread the wealth around it is good for everyone.” My question is IS IT?

No, it’s not! It’s pathetic that the libs are so jealous of those in this country that have worked hard to make a decent living that they would demand they forfeit their earnings to those who choose not to work hard for it. It just feeds into the selfish nature of some people…”it’s okay because it won’t negatively affect me” is their thinking. Problem with that thinking is that it’s faulty. You over-tax the small businessman and he will find a way to recoup that loss…either by raise in price for his goods or services, lay-off of employees, or moving his business overseas.

to spock – the difference is the government doesn’t just have money to “give away” for free…the American taxpayer eventually pays for any hand-outs. The same cannot be said for your other two scenarios…keep trying to justify the lazy greed of some Americans.

njb444 – I beg you, look into economics 101. The top 5% already pay a huge amount in taxes due to the percentage factor. If you put out a fair tax, all Americans are paying the same amount in accordance with their earnings. Why do the libs feel the government should mandate charitable contributions be forced upon the successful businessman? It is one thing to have bad thoughts and jealousy towards a rich person who is taking away from those less fortunate. But if that rich person is running a successful business and paying his fair share of taxes while employing Americans and paying them a good wage, what is so very wrong with that?

  3. #3 icpooreman

I can’t figure out how me getting a thousand dollar tax rebate is a bad thing

  4. #4 Cop

What wealth? We don’t have any jobs!!!!!

  5. #5 Spock (rhp)

the person who is doing the spreading usually has some of it stick to his fingers.

everyone else loses, either financially or emotionally.

More middle class people than poor or rich people. Bad for the rich, but there’s less of us that are rich so we don’t care about them.

  7. #7 Bible Thumper

Christ never intended for us to spread the wealth around.

  8. #8 hamper?

you are taking one piece of a long conversation completely out of context. i can understand though. its like 15 days till the election so you guys have to get desperate i guess.

Good for people that are too lazy to work. That’s about it.

  10. #10 M H

no, it is a disincentive for the achievers.

  11. #11 Skitter

No. Wealth distribution is an infringement of personal liberty.

Went 32 questions this time without a JTP question. Back to zero.

(Thank you Dyna Flow — you shiftless wonder. I told you about that Buick I once had)

Bush have been spreading my wealth around for 8 years. I pay an additional $600 a month in property taxes. Do you call this “spreading the wealth”. ?

Taxes is here to stay, I’ve been paying income taxes since i was 16 and i doubt ANY politician is going to stop “spreading my wealth”

  14. #14 TNT

Sure it is….That would mean a few less food stamps our taxes wouldn’t have to go for.

its good for the people who cant afford to eat but are being taxed more than people with private jets.

  16. #16 BOOMER

No because all those people who think they are going to have more money to spend WONT HAVE A JOB because the businesses can’t afford to hire them.

  17. #17 Wall-eLover

yes because the rich don’t lose anything and they have to satisfaction of helping your fellow americans which is the whole point of being “patriotic”, and thats soo very important to republicans apparently

  18. #18 mm117

NO!! Its bad for this country and the economy is the biggest. Im not sure how Obama thinks “spreading the wealth” will help the economy.

  19. #19 njb444

Well if you reduce the tax cuts going to the wealthiest 5% of this country and give the extra tax dollars back to the majority, I don’t see how that is bad. The only difference is instead of spreading wealth to the rich, it is spreading the wealth to the middle class. How is that bad? Really?

  20. #20 Avatartar Sauce!

negative ghost rider, it’s the Robin Hood effect…take from the rich and give to the poor. If you look at the rich (maybe 5% of the US population) and look at the poor (maybe 20% of the US pop.) how long and for how much can they tax the rich, pretty soon the middle class would be taxed heavily as well, and that’s only good for one group

  21. #21 blh454

I think most Stalinist’s would agree with Obama.

  22. #22 squigmire1

Absolutely not. This mindset encourages people not to work to their full potential because they can half-ass it and get just as much as the people who bust their *****. In this country everyone should have the opportunity to gain wealth but everyone is not entitled to wealth.

It’s just the tax structure that Obama will change, kinda like what Clinton did and we did great!

This question is getting old too. Do some research.
